Emily & Jeffrey – Sacramento Engagement Story

Wedding Date: 10/03/2020

How did you meet? We met on Bumble! Real original, we know, but we really hit it off and met in person immediately.

What attracted her to him? On our first date we found ourselves at a bar that was hosting a billiards league. They wouldn’t let us in so we said “well, we are in the league!” so we had to pretend to be an established couple and also pool sharks! It was SO fun! We laugh so hard together and make life fun. I love how easygoing he is and caring. Plus he is a super hottie!

What attracted him to her? She is so beautiful and caring. I found out about her excellent cooking skills and knew she was a keeper because I don’t love to cook. I love her work ethic and drive. She is my best friend and I cannot wait to marry her. We have built a beautiful life together and our future is looking bright despite the pandemic.

Your engagement story: First of all, Jeffrey asked me to marry him after 7 weeks. We were in Tahoe and we were going to bed and he said “I want you to be my wifey” and then proceeded to propose pretty much weekly until May 2019. We were gifted my great great Grandmother’s wedding ring from 1914. It is a beautiful, unique, vintage ring and as soon as we had it Jeff said “well? will you marry me?” It was intimate and personal and perfect.

Tell us your COVID wedding planning experience: Oh boy. Being an RN on a COVID unit and a bride in 2020 has been daunting to say the least. Our date was always October 3rd, 2020. But our guest list was about 215 and all year we were like “we are totally going to be fine by October” and in July we made the call to change venues to our family property, cut the guest list, and make it COVID friendly. I never thought I would have hand sanitizers as wedding favors but here we are. Everyone will be sitting socially distant with whoever they live with, the whole ceremony will be outdoors and spaced out. Individually packaged appetizers and desserts will be served. Plated dinner and no cake. No DJ, just a playlist for minimal dancing. It definitely is not the day we imagined but it will still be the best day of our lives! We have found a silver lining and bought our first home together so we will be honeymooning at our new home! And hopefully going to Hawaii someday!
